Who we are

The Story Behind Kanchha

Kanchha Outdoors is an adventure travel company based in Pune, India, dedicated to creating safe, memorable, and professionally managed trekking and mountaineering experiences. We believe the mountains are more than destinations. They are places of growth, resilience, and self-discovery.

Our goal is to inspire people to step beyond their comfort zones and experience nature in its purest form through well-organized adventures.

In Nepali, “Kancha” means younger brother, the one who walks beside you, watches your step, and makes sure you’re never alone on the trail. That’s the promise behind Kanchha Outdoors.

Since 2016, we’ve guided thousands of travellers from across India, from first-timers to seasoned trekkers, through Nepal’s most iconic Himalayan routes and the Sahyadri hills closer to home.

Safety, Fitness & Preparation

Safety on a Himalayan trek isn’t one thing — it’s preparation before you leave, and protocol once you’re on the trail. Here’s
exactly what that looks like with Kanchha Outdoors.

Fitness Required

We recommend 4–6 weeks of prep before a Himalayan trek: cardio (running, cycling, swimming), stair-climbing or hill repeats, and at least 2–3 practice hikes with a loaded pack

Insurance

Travel insurance with high-altitude and emergency helicopter evacuation cover is mandatory for all treks above 3,000m

On-Trail Safety Infrastructure

Certified, Wilderness First Aid-trained guides on every trek

No, prior trekking experience is not always required. We offer treks suitable for beginners as well as experienced trekkers. Our team provides guidance, preparation support, and experienced local guides to help you complete the trek safely and confidently.

The cost depends on the season, group size, trek duration, inclusions, and flight prices. Our packages can include accommodation, permits, guides, meals, internal transportation, and flights from India depending on the selected package. Contact us for the latest EBC package and flight-inclusive pricing.

Altitude safety is one of our priorities. We follow a gradual acclimatization schedule, maintain appropriate rest days, monitor trekkers for symptoms, and have trained guides accompanying the group. If someone develops serious symptoms, our team follows established descent and emergency procedures.

Yes. Depending on the trek and package, Hindi-speaking support can be arranged. Indian and vegetarian food options are also available at many trekking destinations, and we can help accommodate common dietary preferences when planned in advance.

The most popular trekking seasons are spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). These months generally offer favourable weather and good mountain visibility. Some lower-altitude and rain-shadow treks can also be suitable outside these periods.

Indian citizens generally do not need a visa to enter Nepal, but valid identification and appropriate travel documents are required. Trekking routes may also require permits such as TIMS and national park or conservation-area permits. We assist with the required trekking permits as part of our arrangements.

Yes. We can arrange private and customised treks based on your group size, preferred dates, fitness level, budget, route, accommodation preferences, and interests. This is a great option for families, friends, corporate groups, and photography groups.

Inclusions depend on the trek and package you choose. Depending on the itinerary, packages may include trekking permits, experienced guides, accommodation, meals, local transportation, airport transfers, and required trekking arrangements. Flights from India and personal expenses may be separate unless specifically mentioned in the package.

You don't need to be an athlete, but you should have a reasonable level of fitness. We recommend starting preparation 6–8 weeks before the trek, focusing on walking, hiking, stairs, cardio, leg strength, and endurance. Your required fitness level will depend on the trek's duration and altitude.

For Himalayan treks, comprehensive travel insurance with trekking and high-altitude coverage is strongly recommended and may be required for certain itineraries. Your policy should ideally cover emergency medical treatment, helicopter evacuation where applicable, trekking at the planned altitude, trip interruption/cancellation, and related emergencies. Always check the policy's altitude limits and exclusions before travelling.
